Class 4

PGL Centre, Hindhead

Class 4 have just returned from a very successful trip at the PGL centre in Hindhead. They really tested their courage when faced with ‘The Giant Swing’ and the ‘Powerfan.’

Charlie Wallbridge describes one of the activities on Class 4’s residential to PGL Activities Centre.

I walked up to one of the instructors to get my harness on. I had butterflies in my tummy and a lump in my throat, but I was laughing and joking with my friends, determined not to show my true feelings.

The trees waved rapidly in the air and spread a sheet of brightly coloured leaves on the ground.

We walked up to the platform, the instructor tightened us onto the metal bar and started to pull us up. We told him we wanted to go right to the top, but I was already scared when we were half way up.

He told me to pull the white rope, I reached out behind me and grabbed it. It felt as though I was about to send us to our death… like I had just been shot out of a bazooka. I screamed with terror as we shot towards the trees in front of us.

As the instructor unclipped me, I realised it wasn’t so bad after all.
