UK Intermediate Maths Challenge

We are proud to announce that, in the recent UK Intermediate Maths Challenge, sixteen students achieved a Bronze award, six students achieved a Silver award and two students achieved Gold awards.  Congratulations to them all for their hard work and great success, and especially to Jonah Dykes and Ros Jones for gaining their prestigious Gold Certificates!

Year 7 Samba Parade

It was just after 9am on Wednesday 10th February and Perins was swathed in studious quiet.  A class of Year 7 Music students processed into the centre courtyard and an eruption of glorious, rhythmic, celebratory music transformed the day.

It enthralled everyone lucky enough to be within earshot (we estimate that to be about as far as Petersfield).

Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Theatre workshops

On February 3rd, some of our Key Stage 3 Students had the opportunity to work with Forte Theatre Company, a company specialising in physical theatre who offer innovative and alternative workshops for secondary schools.  The workshop gave the students the opportunity to work with a professional theatre company and developed the work in lessons on the Use of Mask in Theatre, developing the students' self-confidence and performance skills.

Some of our Key Stage 4 Students had the chance to work with director Mark Powell from Salisbury Playhouse for a two day workshop based on devising and performance skills. The aim of the workshop was to devise a piece of theatre as a whole group and was a valuable opportunity for our students taking, or planning to take, Drama at GCSE to work for sustained period of time with a professional director, as well as helping to build confidence and performance skills.   The students will now perform the devised piece to Year 7 students.

Free Dress Day 5th February:  Our Free Dress Day on 5th February was is aid of the Mayor’s Charities, Emmaus Hampshire and Trinity.  We were delighted and honoured that the Mayor visited us several times and spoke to the students at a number of assemblies prior to the Free Dress Day.  Both charities reflect the Mayor's chosen theme of Homelessness.  A cheque for £761.87 has now been sent.

For more information about the Mayor's Charities, please click here

We also  held an additional voluntary collection for the Rotary Club aquabox scheme, specifically to help purchase GOLD Aqua Boxes.  These are £80 each – they are filled with life saving equipment and then can be used to purify water.   These are being sent to Haiti.   A cheque for £871.38 has recently been sent

Thank you to all our students - and their supportive parents.

School was closed 6-8 January 2010 due to the exceptionally heavy snowfall and prolonged freezing weather.  We re-opened on Monday 11th January for our students in Years 10 and 11 and opened for all students on Tuesday 12th January.  Click here for more snow photographs.
